Backup Your Series Reminder Data

You should always have full ownership of your data. Series Reminder makes it easy to download a complete, local copy of your tracking history and watchlist anytime in either CSV or JSON format—completely free of charge.

Exporting Your Data to CSV or JSON

Downloading a local copy of your tracking history is fast and simple, with no complicated setups or API keys required:

  1. Log into your Series Reminder account.
  2. Go directly to the Data Backup Utility.
  3. Click Download CSV for a spreadsheet view, or Download JSON for a structured raw data export. The file will download immediately to your computer or phone.

What is Included in Your Export File?

The exporter compiles your active records into a clean, portable file (CSV for Excel/Google Sheets, or JSON for developers and custom scripts). The export includes:

  • Series Metadata: The name and TVDB ID for every show in your favorites list, along with your custom notification preferences.
  • Episode Tracking: The name, season number, episode number, and TVDB ID of every episode of your favorite shows (including Season 0 Specials).
  • Watch History: The exact watched or unwatched state of every single episode in your history.

Why Keep a Local Backup?

If you are planning to run a major data import (such as migrating library files from TV Time, Episode Calendar, or Plex), downloading a quick CSV or JSON backup of your current history first is always smart engineering. While all Series Reminder imports are additive and safe, keeping a local snapshot on your computer provides a reliable safety net and total peace of mind.

Data Portability & Privacy Commitment

I believe in absolute data privacy and transparency. Series Reminder is built to be lightweight, fast, and respectful of your digital footprint. The only personal information stored is your email address, used strictly for authentication and your scheduled episode digests. Beyond that, the database only stores the TV shows and watch states you explicitly choose to log.

I do not sell data to brokers, and I will never lock your watch history behind a paywall. Backups in both CSV and JSON are 100% free for all accounts.
