Creative Pulse - Irregular Series

Creative Engine: Tom Waes

Kamp Waes operates on the Tom Waes timeline, where creative readiness supersedes broadcast schedules. This Belgian phenomenon avoids the traditional annual release cycle because simulating Special Forces selection requires immense preparation. Following a four-year hiatus between the first and second installments, viewers learned that the production values and psychological depth are worth the wait. The show prioritizes candidate authenticity over meeting network quotas, ensuring each season feels like a monumental event rather than a routine broadcast.

This deliberate pacing allows the creators to refine challenges and find participants who can withstand grueling demands. Fans accept these irregular intervals as a hallmark of quality, ensuring the series remains a premium pillar.

Oracle Prediction: Expect a multi-year silence followed by a surprise high-stakes recruitment window for a potential third cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, Kamp Waes does not follow a standard annual television schedule. Because host Tom Waes and the Special Forces team prioritize high-quality production and authentic candidate selection, the series is released on an irregular timeline based on preparation needs.

While future seasons are often discussed due to the show's immense popularity, official renewals depend on the availability of the Special Forces instructors and Tom Waes's busy filming schedule. As of September 2026, viewers should look for official announcements from VRT for the latest production updates.

The multi-year gap between seasons is necessary to ensure the physical and mental challenges remain unique and rigorous for new candidates. Additionally, the production requires extensive coordination with the Belgian Special Forces Group, who have active military duties that take precedence over television filming.

Since the show lacks a fixed yearly slot, the best way to stay informed is through the official VRT Max platform and Tom Waes's social media channels. These outlets provide the first confirmation once a new group of recruits has been selected and filming begins.

Yes, Tom Waes is a prolific creator involved in multiple demanding projects like Reizen Waes, which limits his availability for the intensive Kamp Waes filming process. The show only moves forward when both the host and the military experts can dedicate several months to the project.

Casting calls are not permanent and only open during specific windows when a new season has been greenlit and pre-production is underway. These windows are rare and usually occur years apart due to the show's irregular production cycle.
