The production was structured to adapt two specific novels by the author Mame, titled Love Storm and Love Sky, which allowed the narrative to be split into two distinct yet interconnected segments. By focusing on the romantic trajectories of four central characters across thirteen episodes, the production team ensured that the source material was fully realized within a single broadcast cycle. The scale of the series was defined by its commitment to a comprehensive adaptation, providing a definitive beginning, middle, and end for both primary story arcs.

The decision to format the series as a finite run was driven by the complete nature of the original literature, which reached its natural conclusion at the end of the second novel. Me Mind Y utilized a high-production-value approach to capture the specific atmospheric themes required by the script, resulting in a self-contained project that did not require subsequent seasons to resolve its plot.
