Produced as a deeply personal and investigative documentary project for Starz, the series centers on the firsthand account of India Oxenberg. Unlike broader journalistic overviews, this production was designed as a finite narrative arc focusing on the specific mechanics of coercion and the subsequent recovery process. The scale of the production involved extensive archival footage and high-profile interviews, all curated to provide a complete historical record of one survivor’s experience within the organization.

The series was structured with a definitive conclusion because it was inextricably linked to the legal proceedings and sentencing of the cult leaders. By the final episode, the narrative reaches its natural end as the legal system delivers its verdict and Oxenberg completes her public testimony. Because the project was intended to serve as a singular, comprehensive document of a specific criminal case and a personal recovery journey, there was no creative or practical intent for additional seasons. The production achieved its goal of exposing the internal dynamics of the group, leaving no unresolved plotlines or recurring structural needs for future installments.
