Series Deep Dive:

Production I.G delivers a masterclass in speculative fiction with Heavenly Delusion. Adapting Masakazu Ishiguro’s acclaimed manga, the series braids two distinct timelines: a walled paradise harboring naive youths and a ruinous Japan stalked by grotesque man-eaters. Featuring razor-sharp direction and raw emotional gravity, this completed mystery challenges viewers to decode its interlocking secrets. Heavenly Delusion remains an extraordinary, self-contained achievement in modern science fiction anime.

Frequently Asked Questions

Heavenly Delusion, known in Japan as Tengoku Daimakyo, concluded its original television run on June 24, 2023. The series originally premiered on April 1, 2023, airing across Japanese networks including Tokyo MX before wrapping up its planned single-cour broadcast.

The broadcast ended because the initial production was planned as a single-cour run covering the early arcs of Masakazu Ishiguro's ongoing manga. The production by Production I.G adapted through roughly Chapter 37, reaching a natural pause point that caught up close to the available source material at the time.

A total of one season consisting of 13 episodes was produced for the anime adaptation. There are no additional television episodes, television specials, or extended cuts created for that broadcast run.

As of now, no official sequel season, reboot, or continuation has been confirmed by Production I.G or the series production committee. While the manga continues serialization and provides further narrative material, no official production timelines for a second season have been announced.

There are no canonical anime spin-offs, prequel films, or cinematic tie-ins associated with the series. The canonical story exists exclusively within Masakazu Ishiguro's original manga and its direct 13-episode anime adaptation.
