The Industry Oracle - Prestige Tentpole

Oracle Status: Filming/Principal Photography

The cameras are rolling once again at Nevermore Academy as production for the highly anticipated third season officially shifts into high gear in Ireland. Netflix is heavily investing in the continued expansion of the Addams Family universe, with Tim Burton returning to direct the premiere block. Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have reportedly locked in a darker, more psychologically complex script, moving away from the teenage romance angles that defined earlier arcs.

With Jenna Ortega stepping up her role as an executive producer, the creative direction is notably more grounded in gothic horror elements. Set decorators are currently building massive practical sets in County Wicklow to accommodate an ambitious new supernatural mystery. Given the intricate practical effects and heavy makeup requirements, principal photography will demand a grueling schedule before wrapping.

Oracle Prediction: Expect a darker, horror-centric third season to dominate Netflix's Halloween 2027 slate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Netflix has officially renewed Wednesday for a third season [1.2.3]. The renewal was confirmed well ahead of time to ensure the story continues following the massive success of the previous installments.

The third season of Wednesday is currently in the filming stage. Principal photography began in early 2026 and is taking place on location in Dublin and County Wicklow, Ireland. Production will continue through the summer before the show moves into extensive post-production.

The extended wait times between seasons are primarily due to the massive scale of the production, which the creators have compared to shooting a blockbuster movie. Additionally, the show requires complex supernatural visual effects and was previously impacted by industry delays. Because of these intensive production demands, the upcoming season has been pushed to a 2027 release window.

An official spin-off series centered around Uncle Fester is currently in development at Netflix. Fred Armisen is slated to reprise his role as the eccentric Addams Family relative. This project is part of a broader effort by the streaming platform to expand the Addams Family television universe.

Netflix has not announced an exact premiere date, but the third season is currently projected to arrive in 2027. The series must first complete its extensive filming schedule in Ireland. Following that, a lengthy post-production phase is required to finalize the visual effects before the episodes can drop.

Production for the third season has officially relocated to County Wicklow and Dublin, Ireland. This marks a shift from the first season, which was famously shot in Romania. The new locations provide the necessary gothic architecture and moody landscapes to represent the world of Nevermore Academy.

Jenna Ortega is confirmed to reprise her starring role as the titular character in the upcoming season. She will also continue to serve as an executive producer for the series alongside creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The core cast will be joined by new additions like Lena Headey and Eva Green.
