The series concluded in 1999 primarily due to a shift in network programming priorities and the natural end of its production cycle after four successful seasons. While it remained popular, the focus of Fox Kids began to transition toward newer animated properties and different demographics.

Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego? ran for a total of four seasons, consisting of 40 episodes. The show aired between 1994 and 1999, maintaining a consistent educational focus throughout its entire run.

There are currently no credible rumors regarding a direct revival of the 1994 animated series. However, the franchise was successfully rebooted by Netflix in 2019 as a new standalone animated show with a different art style and backstory.

While there are no direct narrative spin-offs of the animated series, it was part of a larger media franchise that included the live-action game show Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? and a follow-up game show titled Where in Time Is Carmen Sandiego?. These programs shared the same educational mission but utilized different formats.

The 1994 series and the 2019 Netflix show are separate continuities and are not narratively linked. The legacy series focuses on ACME agents Zack and Ivy chasing Carmen, whereas the newer version explores Carmen's origin story as a protagonist.

The show followed teenage ACME detectives Zack and Ivy as they traveled the globe to thwart the heists planned by Carmen Sandiego. They were guided by the Chief, a digital entity represented by a large floating head on a computer screen.
