Production Note - Limited Series

Production Type: Limited Series

Without Sin is a standalone Limited Series designed as a completed, finite historical narrative. Developed as a four-part psychological thriller for ITVX, the production focused on a concentrated exploration of grief, restorative justice, and the search for truth. By framing the story around a specific, high-stakes confrontation between a grieving mother and her daughter's alleged killer, the creators ensured the narrative arc remained tight and emotionally contained within its four-episode structure.

The series was produced by Left Bank Pictures and Build Your Own Films, specifically tailored to showcase a complete character journey without the need for seasonal expansion. Its design as a miniseries allowed for a cinematic approach to its Nottingham setting and a definitive resolution to its central mystery. This structural choice prioritizes thematic closure, aligning the production with the modern demand for high-quality, short-form prestige dramas that deliver a conclusive viewing experience.

Production Trivia: Produced by Left Bank Pictures and Build Your Own Films, the series was written by Frances Poletti and directed by Al Mackay.
