Production Note - Limited Series

Production Type: Limited Series

Angela Black is a standalone Limited Series designed as a completed, finite historical narrative. Produced by Two Brothers Pictures for ITV and Spectrum Originals, the series was conceived as a tight, six-part psychological thriller. The narrative focuses specifically on the character's journey from victimhood to agency, utilizing a high-stakes plot involving domestic abuse and corporate deception that was structured to resolve within a single season.

The production scale was intimate yet intense, focusing on the claustrophobic atmosphere of the protagonist's home life and the psychological manipulation she endures. Because the central mystery regarding the private investigator and the truth of her husband's intentions is fully unraveled by the finale, the creators intended for the show to serve as a self-contained piece of television. There were no narrative threads left dangling to necessitate a continuation, cementing its status as a complete historical record of this specific character study.

Production Trivia: Created and written by Harry and Jack Williams, the series stars Joanne Froggatt and Michiel Huisman. It was produced by Two Brothers Pictures in association with ITV Studios.
