The Industry Oracle - Prestige Tentpole

Oracle Status: Post-Production/VFX

The whispers across the animation pipeline confirm that Miyo and Kiyoka are preparing for their long-awaited wedding walk. Following the emotionally resonant conclusion of the second season in April 2025, Studio Kinema Citrus is currently deep in the digital trenches, tirelessly rendering a three-episode special edition slated for a global Netflix release later this year. The meticulous historical fantasy elements and intricate kimono designs require extensive compositing and visual effects work, placing this highly anticipated romantic continuation firmly in the post-production phase. Fans have been eagerly analyzing the initial teaser artwork for subtle narrative clues.

While an exact premiere date remains locked within the studio vault, the industry consensus points toward a late 2026 debut. Until the official marketing campaign accelerates, keep your eyes sharply peeled for sudden, exciting trailer drops.

Oracle Prediction: A 3-episode special edition will debut on Netflix in late 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

While an official third season has not been formally announced as of August 2026, a new three-episode special project is confirmed to be in development. These special episodes are scheduled to stream globally on Netflix in 2026 and will continue the story following the events of the second season.

The upcoming 2026 special episodes are currently in active production at studio Kinema Citrus, with director Takehiro Kubota returning to lead the project. Official promotional materials, including a new key visual of Miyo and Kiyoka, have already been released to commemorate the ongoing development.

The gaps between seasons are primarily due to the availability of source material, as the anime has already adapted a significant portion of the existing light novels. Additionally, the production team at Kinema Citrus prioritizes high-quality animation and intricate kimono designs, which require extensive time for detailing and visual finishing.

There are no canonical spin-off series in development; however, the franchise has expanded through a live-action film titled As Long as We Both Shall Live. The upcoming three-episode special project acts as the primary continuation of the main anime storyline rather than a separate spin-off.

The new three-episode special edition will be available for global streaming exclusively on Netflix in 2026. It is expected to follow a similar release pattern to previous seasons, airing on Japanese television concurrently with its international digital debut.
