Series Deep Dive:

There is a specific charm found in the nervous shuffling and clinking wine glasses at the First Dates restaurant. This Italian adaptation masterfully balances the cringe of blind dates with moments of genuine connection, turning dining into a spectator sport. Whether presided over by Flavio Montrucchio or exploring the spin-off Hotel, the series thrives on the raw unpredictability of chemistry. Yet, following the recent finale, the kitchen is quiet, leaving fans in an agonizing limbo regarding future reservations. While the network decides if the maître d' will return to seat more hopeful singles, setting a reminder for the next season is the only way to ensure you have a table waiting when the doors finally reopen.

Scheduling Insights - Seasonal Series

Release Window: January

First Dates (IT) has maintained a steady Annual rhythm for 7 years, typically returning in January. Since its debut in 2017, the series has served as a reliable anchor for Real Time, consistently kicking off the new year with fresh episodes. The production has demonstrated remarkable stability, rarely deviating from its early-year launch window despite the complexities of filming a reality dating series in a public restaurant setting.

Over the years, the show has transitioned from a niche adaptation into a major fixture of Italian linear television. Its programming strategy relies on high-volume seasons that carry the network through the winter and spring months. This predictability has allowed the show to build a loyal viewership that expects the restaurant doors to open every January, cementing its status as a cornerstone of the Discovery Italia portfolio.

Frequently Asked Questions

First Dates (IT), known locally as Primo Appuntamento, typically premieres its main season during the winter months, often debuting in early January. Occasionally, the network schedules additional special editions or spin-offs during the fall or spring to maintain year-round engagement. This consistent winter scheduling has made it a staple of the Real Time network's early-year programming lineup.

As of September 2026, the series remains a flagship program for Warner Bros. Discovery in Italy and is expected to continue its long-running broadcast. Official renewal announcements for the upcoming year are typically confirmed following the conclusion of the current cycle's production. Given its high ratings and cultural popularity, the show is firmly established as a continuing production.

A standard season of First Dates (IT) usually consists of approximately 15 to 20 episodes, though this can vary based on production demands. Each episode features several blind dates occurring simultaneously at the show's signature restaurant. The consistent volume of episodes allows the series to run weekly for several months at a time.

In Italy, viewers can stream episodes of First Dates (IT) on the Discovery+ platform, which hosts both recent broadcasts and archive seasons. The service often provides early access to episodes or exclusive bonus content for subscribers. Additionally, some clips and highlights are frequently shared via the official Real Time social media channels.

The series is famously hosted by Flavio Montrucchio, who serves as the Maitre d' of the restaurant. He is responsible for welcoming the singles upon their arrival and providing commentary on the progress of their dates. His charismatic presence has become a defining characteristic of the Italian adaptation since he took over the role.
