Plastic Memories

In a near-future city, the SAI Corporation has created Giftias, highly advanced androids nearly identical to humans. However, each Giftia has a limited lifespan of only 81,920 hours—roughly nine years and four months. After this, their personalities and memories begin to disintegrate. The story follows Tsukasa Mizugaki, a young man who gets a job at the Terminal Service. His duty is to retrieve Giftias who are nearing their expiration date. Tsukasa is partnered with Isla, a veteran Giftia who is also approaching the end of her own lifespan. Together, they confront the emotional task of separating androids from the families who love them, forcing them to face the nature of memory, loss, and love. This poignant series on Tokyo MX has ended, but sign up for a reminder just in case it returns.
