Series Analysis:
Based on William Shakespeare’s historical plays, *Requiem of the Rose King* is a dark fantasy anime that reimagines one of history’s most notorious monarchs. The series, which aired on Tokyo MX, is set during the tumultuous Wars of the Roses in 15th-century England. It follows the tragic story of Richard, the third son of the House of York. Born intersex, Richard is viewed as a demon by his mother and is haunted by his own identity. As the houses of York and Lancaster battle for the throne, Richard is drawn into a bloody and corrupting quest for power, believing the crown is the only path to salvation.
