Produced by Two Brothers Pictures for ITV and Amazon Prime Video, the series was envisioned as a complete narrative journey. The production scale was significant, involving extensive location filming across South Africa to recreate the Democratic Republic of the Congo. By focusing on a singular, high-stakes mystery regarding a plane crash and a missing husband, the creators ensured the plot reached a natural resolution without the need for additional seasons.

The decision to keep the series as a one-off project allowed the writers to maintain a tight pace and deliver a definitive ending for the protagonist, Georgia Wells.
