The Palace (2021)

Set in 1988, just a year before the fall of the Berlin Wall, "The Palace" explores a city and a family divided. The story centers on Chris, a solo dancer at the legendary Friedrichstadt-Palast in East Berlin. Her life is upended when she meets Marlene, a business student visiting from West Berlin who looks exactly like her. They are identical twins, separated at birth and raised in completely different political and social worlds. In a risky and life-altering decision, they secretly switch places. Each sister gets a chance to experience the life she never had, all while trying to uncover the dark family secret that tore them apart. The series contrasts the vibrant, controlled world of the East German revue with the freedoms of the West. It has ended, but sign up for a reminder just in case it returns.
