Series Overview:
For more than forty years, West Berlin has been the focus of the East-West conflict. The four victorious powers of World War II laid the foundations for this as early as the first post-war years. The Soviet rulers tried several times to break the freedom and will to live of the West Berlin population - several times the world was facing a nuclear war. Under the leadership of the charismatic mayors Ernst Reuter and Willy Brandt, the West Berlin population is maintaining their will to live and persevere.
