In 1885, the first nursing school in Japan was established, followed by other nursing schools across the country. As if invited by fate, Ichinose Rin and Oya Naomi enroll in one of these schools. Rin becomes a single mother at a young age due to a series of misfortunes. Naomi, abandoned by her parents at birth, is raised in the care of a church. The other classmates who gather at the school each have their own complicated circumstances. Together, they strive to study nursing, a field still unfamiliar in Japan at the time.
