Series Deep Dive:

Set against the volatile backdrop of 1971 Mexico City, Women in Blue (Las Azules) delivers a searing critique of institutional misogyny. Initially hired as a publicity stunt to placate the public, Mexico's first female police squad uncovers systemic corruption while hunting a serial predator. Anchored by commanding performances and rich period styling, the series transforms a dark historical moment into an urgent, tautly executed investigative procedural.

Apple TV has not officially announced a renewal or cancellation for Season 3 of Women in Blue (Las Azules). The sophomore season debuted on August 12, 2026, and the platform typically evaluates standard multi-week viewership metrics before greenlighting additional installments.

Women in Blue is currently in active broadcast release rather than production. Season 2 premiered its eight-episode run on Apple TV on August 12, 2026, leading into its scheduled season finale on September 30, 2026.

The extended gap between seasons was primarily driven by the timing of Apple TV's renewal decision alongside rigorous period-piece production logistics. The streamer did not officially greenlight Season 2 until May 2025, which pushed filming in Mexico and intensive 1970s historical set recreation well into late 2025 and 2026.

No canonical spin-offs or universe expansions are currently in active development for Women in Blue. Apple TV and production partner Lemon Studios remain entirely focused on the flagship narrative following Mexico's pioneering female police officers.

Women in Blue is filmed on location across Mexico City and surrounding regions in Mexico. Produced by Lemon Studios, the production utilizes an entirely Latin American cast and crew to recreate early 1970s urban environments.
