Creative Engine: Yuka Yasukawa

Love is Better the Second Time Around operates on the Yuka Yasukawa timeline, where creative readiness supersedes broadcast schedules. The 2024 debut established a nuanced adult BL dynamic directly adapted from Keiko Kinoshita's manga. Rather than rushing an unearned follow-up, production took a measured two-year pause to craft an entirely original sequel script with co-director Shinju Funabiki. Returning to MBS's Dramaism block in September 2026, the series proves that pacing and character maturation guide its releases rather than seasonal pressure.

Oracle Prediction: Love is Better the Second Time Around is projected to wrap its ongoing sophomore run in autumn 2026, with any subsequent continuation contingent on original development.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, Love is Better the Second Time Around does not follow a traditional annual television cycle. Rather than adhering to predictable calendar releases, production schedules are dictated by source material availability, the creative development required to expand beyond the original manga, and the alignment of network programming blocks on MBS.

Season 2 was officially produced by MBS and scheduled for a September 2026 premiere. Following the broadcast of the second season, MBS has not formally announced a third season or additional standalone television specials.

Extended gaps between releases are primarily driven by original storytelling needs and talent scheduling. Because the initial adaptation quickly covered the completed manga by Keiko Kinoshita, developing new canonical storylines required author consultation alongside the coordinated availability of co-leads Makoto Hasegawa and Robin Furuya.

The live-action drama is spearheaded by director Yuka Yasukawa alongside screenwriter and director Shinju Funabiki. Additional creative talent across the franchise includes director Nao Nomura and composer Erina Koyama.

International audiences can stream the series through platforms such as Rakuten Viki and GagaOOLala depending on regional licensing rights. In Japan, the show airs domestically on MBS and partner networks in late-night drama time slots.

Yes, Season 2 presents an original continuation set two years after the events of the first season. While Keiko Kinoshita consulted on and reviewed the narrative development in advance, the scripts were custom-written to explore the couple navigating shared domestic life and unexpected encounters with past relationships.
