Frequently Asked Questions
Spriggan debuted worldwide on Netflix on June 18, 2022, releasing all episodes simultaneously. The series concluded its run upon that initial release date, as no additional episodes were commissioned by the platform.
The series consists of a single season containing 6 episodes. Each episode was produced with an extended runtime of approximately 45 minutes, functioning almost like individual featurettes.
While intended to adapt major story arcs from the classic manga, Netflix and animation studio David Production treated the project as an event miniseries. A second season was never greenlit, primarily due to modest international viewership and high production costs.
The 2022 Netflix anime does not have direct spin-offs or sequels connected to its specific continuity. However, the franchise famously includes a standalone 1998 anime theatrical film directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki and supervised by Katsuhiro Otomo, which adapts the same original manga independently.
There are currently no credible industry reports or official announcements indicating a revival or sequel to the Netflix adaptation. Both David Production and Netflix have moved on to other anime properties, leaving the series concluded as a standalone single-season adaptation.
