The Industry Oracle - Prestige Tentpole

Oracle Status: Hiatus/Status Unknown

**The Agency has officially infiltrated our screens once again, with the entire ten episode second season dropping on Paramount Plus just yesterday, June 21, 2026.** Michael Fassbender returns as the deeply conflicted CIA operative Martian, navigating a treacherous web of international espionage and shifting loyalties as a double agent for British intelligence.

The Butterworth brothers have elevated the dramatic stakes, pushing the acclaimed spy thriller into even darker, more complex territory alongside returning heavyweights Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere. While the series has enough source material to adapt up to five total seasons, executives have yet to officially greenlight a third installment. Consequently, the production currently sits in a holding pattern. We anticipate renewal news shortly, but until the ink dries, the espionage hit remains strictly on an indefinite hiatus.

Oracle Prediction: Paramount Plus will inevitably renew the series for a third season given the strong viewership, but expect a longer gap before production resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

As of late June 2026, Paramount+ has not officially renewed the spy thriller for a third season [1.1.2]. The second season recently premiered in its entirety on June 21, 2026, meaning executives are likely evaluating viewership data before making a final decision. Speculation regarding a cancellation exists due to recent corporate acquisitions, but no official announcement has been made.

The series has completed all production and post-production for its second season. Since a third season has not yet been greenlit, there is currently no active filming or pre-production taking place. The cast and crew remain on standby pending future network announcements regarding the fate of the show.

The eighteen-month wait between the first and second seasons was heavily influenced by corporate restructuring, including the integration of Showtime into Paramount+ and the impending Skydance acquisition. The series also requires extensive international filming in locations like London and Estonia to maintain its authentic espionage atmosphere. Coordinating the schedules of a high-profile ensemble cast further contributes to these extended production timelines.

There are currently no official spin-offs in development for this specific American adaptation. The series itself is actually an English-language remake of the acclaimed French espionage drama Le Bureau des Legendes. Paramount+ briefly considered branding the show as part of a larger procedural universe by adding Central Intelligence to the title but ultimately dropped the subtitle before the second season premiered.

Unlike the first season which utilized a weekly release schedule, the second season was released as a complete binge drop. All ten episodes became available simultaneously on Paramount+ on June 21, 2026. This shift in distribution strategy allows audiences to consume the complex political thriller at their own pace.

Michael Fassbender returned to lead the series as the covert CIA operative known as Martian. Other major returning ensemble members include Jodie Turner-Smith, Jeffrey Wright, and Richard Gere. The second season also introduced new recurring cast members such as Christian Ochoa Lavernia and Clayne Crawford to expand the narrative.
