The Industry Oracle - Prestige Tentpole

Oracle Status: Pre-Production Season 3

The demolition derby of the apocalyptic wasteland is far from finished. Following a blockbuster sophomore tournament that unleashed Calypso’s games and pitted Anthony Mackie’s John Doe against lethal combatants across scorched highways, Peacock wasted no time securing another lap. The high-octane adaptation was officially renewed for Season 3, setting the stage for even deeper lore and explosive vehicular warfare. Behind the scenes, incoming showrunner David Reed and PlayStation Productions are assembling writers and stunt coordinators to blueprint the next chapter of scorched-earth carnage. Sweet Tooth’s bloody circus remains primed to expand, but mounting complex automotive practical effects and heavy CGI warfare means cameras won't roll until late winter.

Oracle Prediction: Expect Twisted Metal Season 3 to premiere on Peacock in Summer 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Peacock officially renewed the action comedy for a third season in November 2025 [1.3.8]. The upcoming season features a major creative shift, with David Reed taking over as showrunner. Mark Hamill has also joined the cast to play the father of Sweet Tooth.

As of June 2026, the third season is currently filming on location in Toronto. Production officially began in mid-June and is scheduled to wrap up in late August 2026.

The extended wait times are largely due to the show relying heavily on complex visual effects and practical stunts for its vehicular combat sequences. Additionally, a recent behind the scenes creative overhaul and change in showrunner ahead of the third season added to the development timeline.

There are currently no canonical television spin-offs in development for the franchise. PlayStation Productions and Peacock are keeping their full focus on the mainline series as it explores the highly anticipated tournament arc.

Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, and Joe Seanoa are all returning to lead the third season. However, Mike Mitchell has confirmed his character Stu was cut from the upcoming episodes due to creative changes under the new showrunner.

The second season premiered on Peacock in July 2025. It concluded with John Doe and Quiet surviving the deadly demolition derby hosted by Calypso.
