Production Note - Limited Series

Production Type: Limited Series

Vampire in the Garden is a standalone Limited Series designed as a completed, finite historical narrative. Produced by the acclaimed Wit Studio, this original net animation was conceived as a high-budget, cinematic odyssey compressed into a five-episode format. The production prioritized a singular, high-stakes journey over the long-term franchise building common in the industry, utilizing a focused creative team to deliver a visually dense and emotionally conclusive experience that leaves no narrative threads for future expansion.

The decision to frame the project as a finite series allowed the showrunners to maintain a relentless pace and a definitive thematic closure regarding the coexistence of humans and vampires. By avoiding the open-ended structures of seasonal television, the creators ensured that the character arcs for Momo and Fine reached their natural and tragic endpoints within the allotted runtime. This self-contained approach was a deliberate choice to provide a complete artistic statement that functions as a standalone epic within the Netflix original anime catalog.

Production Trivia: Vampire in the Garden is an original net animation (ONA) produced by Wit Studio, directed by Ryotaro Makihara, and co-directed by Hiroyuki Tanaka. The series features character designs and animation supervision by Tetsuya Nishio, known for his work on Naruto and The Sky Crawlers. The musical score was composed by Yoshihiro Ike. It was released globally as a Netflix Original, consisting of five episodes totaling approximately 125 minutes of runtime.
