The Industry Oracle - Prestige Tentpole

Oracle Status: Post-Production/VFX

The Immortal Universe is expanding its dark dominion as Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches pushes deep into post-production for its highly anticipated third season. Following a blood-soaked sophomore run that concluded in March 2025, AMC officially greenlit a third chapter, relocating the supernatural dread from the swamps of New Orleans to the infamous witching grounds of Salem, Massachusetts. Principal photography commenced in Vancouver in October 2025 and wrapped on February 20, 2026, meaning the creative team is locked in the editing bays.

With Thomas Schnauz joining Esta Spalding as co-showrunner, the visual effects pipeline is working overtime to render Salem's haunting mythology and the newly introduced spellbound families. Expect a post-production cycle as they refine the demonic CGI and atmospheric horrors before a late 2026 or early 2027 premiere.

Oracle Prediction: Season 3 will unleash its Salem-set witchcraft on AMC in late 2026 or early 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

AMC officially renewed the series for a third season in April 2025. The upcoming season shifts the story to Salem, Massachusetts, to explore new magical families and historical witchcraft lore.

The third season is currently in the post-production and visual effects stage. Filming took place in Vancouver and officially wrapped up in February 2026.

Extended release gaps are due to the extensive visual effects required to bring the supernatural elements to life. The production also underwent significant logistical changes, including moving filming locations to Vancouver to replicate Salem for the third season.

The franchise recently expanded with the spin-off series Talamasca: The Secret Order, which premiered in late 2025. Producers have also confirmed a digital short-form series called Night Island and teased several other shows in development.

Both shows exist within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe and share connective tissue through the Talamasca secret society. While direct character crossovers have been minimal, the shared universe allows for interconnected storylines across the franchise.

The third season will introduce several new cast members, including Betsy Brandt as Katherine and Michiel Huisman as Michael. Thomas Schnauz has also joined the crew as a co-showrunner to help guide the new Salem storyline.
