Series Deep Dive:

Created by and starring Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley, SisterS mines genuine pathos from cultural friction and estranged sibling bonds. Following its acclaimed sophomore run on RTÉ One, the dark comedy thrives on raw, unvarnished human vulnerability. With Season 2 now concluded, the focus turns to future renewal prospects. Critical praise remains high for its acidic dialogue, authentic performances, and refusal to offer tidy resolutions to messy family trauma.

Creative Engine: Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley

SisterS (2023) operates on the Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley timeline, where creative readiness supersedes broadcast schedules. The series emerged from a decade-long real-life friendship and collaboration, emphasizing a bespoke approach to storytelling that prioritizes authentic character development over rapid-fire output. Because the creators serve as the primary writers and leads, the production cycle is naturally extended to accommodate their specific artistic vision and external commitments. Fans of the show have learned that the silence between seasons is not a sign of cancellation but rather a deliberate pause for refinement.

This artisanal pace ensures that when the dark comedy returns, it maintains the sharp, culturally nuanced edge that defined its debut. Quality remains the ultimate currency for this duo.

Oracle Prediction: Expect a potential second season announcement in late 2024 with a 2025 release window.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, the series does not follow a traditional annual broadcast cycle because it is a creator-driven project led by Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley. The production timeline depends entirely on the writers' availability and their specific creative process rather than network demands.

As of September 2026, a second season has not been officially greenlit or scheduled for production. While the creators have expressed interest in continuing the story, the show remains in an indefinite hiatus typical of independent Irish-Canadian co-productions.

The long gaps between seasons are primarily due to the creators' involvement in other high-profile projects and the meticulous nature of the scriptwriting. Because Goldberg and Stanley serve as both lead actors and primary writers, they prioritize quality over a fast-paced release cycle.

The show is currently considered to be on a creative hiatus rather than being officially cancelled by IFC or RTÉ. This status is common for creator-led dramedies where the talent returns to the project only when the narrative is fully developed.

Official updates are typically shared through IFC or RTÉ press releases or via the creators' social media channels. Given the irregular nature of the series, fans should expect news to arrive sporadically rather than on a fixed seasonal calendar.

There is currently one season consisting of six episodes that originally aired in 2023. These episodes serve as a self-contained narrative arc, though they leave room for future exploration if the creators choose to return.
