Happiness (2021) is a standalone Limited Series that concluded its 12-episode run in December 2021. Produced by Studio Dragon for tvN, this production was designed as a high-concept social thriller that used a localized outbreak to examine the fragility of modern civilization. The scale of the project was intimate yet intense, focusing on the inhabitants of a newly constructed high-rise apartment complex where class distinctions became a matter of life and death. By limiting the scope of the narrative to this specific environment, the creators were able to maintain a high level of suspense while ensuring the story remained grounded in the immediate survival of its characters.

The series was written with a definitive conclusion in mind to satisfy the character arcs of the two leads and the overarching mystery of the Lytta Virus. Throughout its twelve episodes, the plot meticulously built toward a resolution that addressed the origin of the infection and the moral corruption of the building residents. This self-contained structure is a hallmark of many high-budget South Korean dramas, which prioritize a complete narrative journey over multi-season expansion. Because the final episode provided a clear resolution for the outbreak and the central romance, there was no narrative necessity for a continuation, cementing its status as a complete work.
