Only Friends is a standalone Limited Series designed as a completed, finite historical narrative. Produced by GMMTV and directed by Jojo Tichakorn Phukhaotong, the production was conceived as a gritty, character-driven exploration of toxic relationships and interconnected social circles. Unlike traditional long-running soap operas, this project focused on a specific twelve-episode arc that resolved the primary romantic and interpersonal conflicts of its ensemble cast.

The scale of the production was significant for the Thai drama industry, utilizing high-end cinematography and a multi-lead structure that required a strictly planned shooting schedule. Because the narrative was built around a complex web of betrayals and reconciliations, the creators opted for a finite run to maintain the intensity of the plot without the need for seasonal filler. This approach ensured that each character journey reached a definitive conclusion within the single-season framework.
